Born in Hong Kong, pianist Hok-Chun Andy Chung has enchanted audiences with his technical
brilliance and his deep musical understanding, showed himself as a mature artist with his
cultivated playing style.
Andy is an active performer and has been invited to give performances in prestigious venues and
festivals, including Porto Casa da Música, Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice,
Bristol Colston Hall, Hong Kong City Hall and Miyama Conseru Kirishima, etc. In 2024, he
embarked on concerto tours with Sinfonietta Köln across Germany and performed at notable
locations such as the Rathaus Plettenberg, Augustinum Bad Neuenahr and Bürgerhaus Telgte.
Andy has also given performances extensively in United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, Spain,
Poland, Italy, Austria, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand and the United States.
The orchestras he has performed with include the ABRSM Orchestra, the Hong Kong Academy
for Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra, the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln Orchestra,
Orchestra Filarmonica "Mihail Jora" di Bacau, and Sinfonietta Köln.
Andy has been recognized in various prestigious competitions. Highlights include being a
semifinalist at the 2023 Madrid International Piano Competition and winning First Prize at both
the Karlrobert Kreiten Klavierwettbewerb and the Sardoal International Piano Competition in
2020. He also secured top prizes in other international competitions, including Second Prize at
the 20th Italy “Maria Giubilei“ International Piano Competition in 2019 and Third Prize at the
Singapore International Piano Competition in the same year. Andy has been honored with
numerous scholarships from esteemed institutions such as the Oscar and Vera Ritter-Stiftung,
Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Stiftung, and the Lady Muriel Kadoorie Music Scholarship.
Andy has worked with many great artists, including Elisso Virsaladze, Arie Vardi, Jacques Rouvier,
Aquiles Delle Vigne, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, Rena Shereshevskaya, andMichel Dalberto. He is
also an awardee of the ABRSM Scholarship in 2012, Lady Muriel Kadoorie Music Scholarship in
2016, and Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Stiftung in 2022. He is an artist of the Konzert &
Künstler Agentur Jens Gunnar Becker in Germany.
Beginning his musical education in Hong Kong, Andy studied with Prof. Gabriel Kwok at The Hong
Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He then continued his studies with Prof. Christopher Elton at
the Royal Academy of Music and Prof. Fabio Bidini at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
Recently he has completed his Konzertexamen study at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg under
the guidance of Prof. Eric Le Sage.
